October 13 (SeeNews) - Serbia's transport ministry said on Thursday that the government will invest 6.5 million euro ($7.2 million) in Nis airport Konstantin Veliki by 2019.
To date, the government has invested 4.5 million euro in upgrades of the airport in Nis, in eastern Serbia, with the aim of fitting it with the latest equipment and boosting security, the transport ministry said in a statement.
Passenger traffic at Konstantin Veliki airport will reach 100,000 by the end of November, up from only 30,000 in 2015. The number is expected to increase to 200,000 next year, the ministry said.
Nis airport will offer a total of nine routes by end-2016.
