September 25 (SeeNews) - Serbia hopes to complete the project documentation for the construction of a Nis-Pristina motorway section, financed by the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), by March 2021, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said.
"We need to complete the project documentation, which can be done by March 2021. In the meantime, we will negotiate on the financing of the project," Mihajlovic said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of private broadcaster TV Prva on Thursday.
DFC recommends holding an international tender to pick a contractor for the project and has not insisted on the selection of an U.S. company for the job, Mihajlovic said.
The director of the Belgrade office of DFC said earlier this week the U.S. corporation plans to join the project for the construction of a motorway linking Nis to Pristina in the next three months.
DFC and U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM) signed in September letters of interest with Serbia and Kosovo to help finance the construction of a motorway linking Nis to Pristina. The letters of interest are non-binding and will be followed by standard due diligence conducted by both agencies before financing is formally committed, DFC said.
