December 5 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate inched up to 5.5% in October, compared to 5.4% in the previous month, the national statistical office said on Monday, citing provisional data.
When compared to the same month of last year, Romania's jobless rate was unchanged, the statistical office, INS, said in a monthly statement.
Unemployed in October numbered 453,200, as compared to 445,600 in September and 454,900 in October 2021.
The jobless rate among women was 4.7% versus 6.1% among men. The level of unemployment among young people aged between 15 and 24 remains high, at 22.9%.
The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.3%. The percentage of adults aged 25 to 74 who were without a job in September was 72.8% of all unemployed people.
Romania's workforce is estimated at about 9 million out of a population of some 19.3 million.
