December 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales rose by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 5.4% year-on-year in the first ten months of 2022, the national statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday.
On an adjusted basis, sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose by an annual 3.6% during January-October, non-food sales increased 4.1% and sales of fuels were up 9.8% compared to the like period of 2021, INS said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales climbed 4.5% on the year between January-October.
In October alone, Romania's retail sales increased by an adjusted 4.2% year-on-year.
As against the previous month, the adjusted retail turnover volume in October increased globally by 0.5% due to due to rising sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+2.3%) and food, beverages and tobacco (+1.2%). Sales of non-food products decreased by 0.8%.
When compared to September, the gross retail turnover volume in September dropped by an unadjusted 1.4% due to drops registered by the sale non food products (-2.8%), by the retail of automotive fuel in specialised stores (-1.8%). The sale of food, beverages and tobacco rose 0.9%.
The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
