April 13 (SeeNews) - Romania's consumer prices rose 3.05% year-on-year in March, compared to an increase of 3.16% in February, the national statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday.
Food prices rose 1.59% year-on-year in March, while non-food prices added 4.37%, INS said in a statement.
Prices of services grew by 2.21%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.38% in March, as food prices were 0.37% higher, non-food prices rose by 0.46% and prices of services were 0.24% higher.
The average consumer price inflation over the last 12 months was 2.6%, compared to the previous 12 months.
On March 15, Romania's central bank decided to maintain its monetary policy rate to 1.25%.
On March 16, BNR decided to raise its 2021 inflation forecast to 3.4% from 2.5% predicted in November, close to the upper end of its target band of 1.5-3.5%.
