December 29 (SeeNews) - Romanian carrier Blue Air said on Thursday that it will increase the number of flights from capital Bucharest to Italy's Rome starting February 2017.
The airline said in a statement it will offer one additional flight per day during 2016/2017 winter season, and two additional flights per day in summer 2017 season.
By introducing the additional flights, Blue Air will operate a total of 14 flights per week in winter and 21 flights per week in summer, between Bucharest and Rome Fiumicino.
In October, Blue Air opened a base in Romania's central western city of Cluj and said it will launch four new routes starting in summer 2017. The four new routes will connect Cluj with London, Larnaca in Cyprus, Nice in France and Hamburg in Germany.
Also in October, the air carrier set up a new base in Liverpool from where it will operate flights to Rome, Milan, Hamburg and Alicante starting summer 2017, when the base will be operational.
In September, it set up a base at the Mihail Kogalniceanu International Airport in Romania's eastern city of Constanta, from where it will operate seven new domestic and international routes starting April 27, 2017.
The company's operational bases are in Bucharest, Bacau, Cluj, Iasi, Larnaca and Turin.
Blue Air is the only air carrier in Romania with 100% Romanian capital and started operations in December 2004. In 2013, it was taken over by Airline Management Solutions Company in a 30 million euro ($31.3 million) deal.
The airline operates a fleet of 25 Boeing 737 aircraft and flies to over 70 destinations.
