September 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria has welcomed over six million foreign tourists in the first eight months, up 15.7% year-on-year, tourism minister Nikolina Angelkova announced on Friday.
"Although we do not have the official figures for September, we can say that this is the most successful summer season," Angelkova said in a statement.
Over 5.1 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria in the period April-August, an all-time high, Angelkova said earlier.
The number of tourists from Germany, Poland, Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia has increased the most this summer, compared to last year, according to the statement.
According to data from the Bulgarian statistical office, NSI, total revenues from tourist overnights increased 18% year-on-year in July, reaching 286.3 million levs ($164.2 million/146.3 million euro), including 233.8 million levs from overnights spent by international visitors.
