SKOPJE (North Macedonia), September 25 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production fell by an annual 4.4% to 504,673 MWh in July, the statistical office said on Friday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output in July decreased by 3.6% to 481,329 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of the gross domestic electricity production, generating 183,649 MWh, down 27% from July 2019.
Cogeneration plants (CHP) and auto-production thermal power stations followed with 157,560 MWh of electricity output, down 2.4% year-on-year.
Electricity generated by hydro power plants increased by 46% on the year to 146,443 MWh, wind parks' output rose by 5.5% to 9,310 MWh, while biogas plants generated 4,879 MWh of electricity, up 6.2% year-on-year. Solar parks produced 2,833 MWh of electricity in July, up 3.6% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports edged down by an annual 3.6% to 149,052 MWh in July. Its exports fell by 15.8% on the year to 107,645 MWh in the month under review.
Distribution losses increased by 37% on the year to 65,392 MWh in July.
