July 30 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's DS Smith Skopje, a unit of British packaging manufacturer DS Smith, said that its net profit went down 36% year-on-year to 23.4 million denars ($451,500/379,400 euro) in the first half of 2021, due to higher expenses.
Operating expenses rose to 402.4 million denars in the the first six months of 2021, compared with339.8 million denars in the first half of last year, the company said in an interim financial statement filed with the Skopje bourse on Thursday.
DS Smith Skopje's operating revenue rose 13% on the year to 426.7 million denars in the January-June period.
Domestic market sales totalled 268.8 million denars, up 6% on the year, whereas sales abroad rose by 25% to 154.8 million denars in the period under review.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, DS Smith is present in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Greece and Turkey.
