September 29 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade gap widened by 48% in the first eight months of 2022, to 2.76 billion euro ($2.67 billion), the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports rose 77% year-on-year to 470.2 million euro in the January-August period, while imports went up 44% to 2.29 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.
Montenegro's key export destinations in the first eight months of 2022 were Switzerland with 102.3 million euro, Serbia with 88.1 million euro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 64.5 million euro.
Imports into the country originated mainly in Serbia, which accounted for 391.9 million euro worth of imports, China with 204.7 million euro, and Greece with 194.1 million euro.
Montenegro's trade deficit expanded by 18.9% to 2.067 billion euro last year.
