September 15 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's consumer price deflation narrowed to 0.5% year-on-year in August from 0.6% a month earlier, data from the country's statistics office showed on Thursday.
Food prices, which have the largest weight of 35.2% in the consumer basket, fell 0.6% year-on-year last month, after dropping at the same rate in July, the data indicated.
Annual deflation in the transport segment (10.7% weight) softened to 6.3% from 6.6% in July.
Housing and utilities prices (15.5% weight) fell 1.1% on the year after a 0.6% decline the month before.
Month-on-month, Montenegro's consumer prices increased 0.1% in August, after remaining unchanged in July.
