PODGORICA (Montenegro), December 21 (SeeNews) – UAE's flag carrier Etihad Airways said on Wednesday it has signed a codeshare deal with Montenegro Airlines (MA), providing travellers with enhanced connectivity when flying between Southeast Europe and the Middle East.
Under the agreement, MA will enhance its access to Etihad Airways' network by placing its “YM” code on the daily flights of the UAE's flag carrier between Belgrade and Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways said in a statement e-mailed to SeeNews.
Etihad Airways, in turn, will place its “EY” code on the flights of MA between Belgrade and Montenegro's Podgorica and Tivat, the UAE-based company said.
"Travellers in Montenegro can now reach our Abu Dhabi hub with a convenient one-stop connection in Belgrade, from where they can access key destinations in our global network with greater ease," Etihad Airways’ senior vice president network, Gregory Kaldahl, said in the statement.
Flights under the codeshare agreement can be booked as of today and passengers can travel on the codeshare services from January 9, 2017.
In August, Montenegro Airlines signed a code-share deal with Serbia's flag carrier Air Serbia, in which Etihad Airways owns a 49% stake, to offer passengers better connectivity when travelling between Europe, the Middle East and North America.
Montenegro Airlines signed in November a memorandum of understanding with Etihad Airways. As part of the agreement, Etihad Airways will assist the Montenegrin company in the improvement of its organisational structure for more efficient management.
