October 21 (SeeNews) - The average gross salary in Moldova, one of Europe's poorest nations, jumped by a real 8.4% on the year to 5,242.8 lei ($262/239 euro) in August, accelerating strongly from 0.9% growth in July, statistics office data showed on Friday.
In nominal terms, August average gross wage was 12.3% higher on the year, the office said in a statement.
The average gross salary in the public sector was 4,600.3 lei in August, up 5.9% on the year in nominal terms.
In the private sector, the gross wage was 5,508.9 lei in August, up by a nominal 14.7% on the year.
