October 9 (SeeNews) - Moldova's consumer prices rose by 2.32% year-on-year in September, compared to 3.45% in the previous month, the National Bureau of Statistics, BNS, said on Friday.
The main inflation driver in September were food prices, which added 5.91% year-on-year, BNS said in a statement.
Prices of non-food products fell by 0.39% on the year in September, while the cost of services decreased by 0.68%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Moldova's consumer prices edged down 0.26% in September. Food prices fell by 0.61%, while non-food prices edged down by 0.04%. Consumer prices in the services sector inched down by 0.03% month-on-month.
On September 9, Moldova's central bank, BNM, said it has decided to cut its policy rate to 2.75% from 3.00%, taking into account the domestic disinflationary trend.
