January 30 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's industrial output expanded by 3.4% in 2016, after growing by 4.9% in 2015, official data showed on Monday.
The deceleration was mainly the result of slower increase in manufacturing production, which has the largest share in total output - of 80.73%, as well as worse performance of the mining sector, the data published on the website of Macedonia's statistics office showed.
In 2016 output in manufacturing rose 5.3% compared to 6% in 2015, whereas mining production shrank 7.8% after falling 2.4% in 2015.
In December alone, the industrial production rose 3.5% on the year, after declining 4.9% in November, as the improvement was driven by higher manufacturing production.
The highest growth rate in December on an annual basis was recorded in the sector of utilities.
