July 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's June consumer price index (CPI) edged down by 0.4% month-on-month after increasing by 0.5% in May, the State Statistics Bureau said on Monday.
Year-on-year, Croatia's consumer price inflation slightly slowed down to 1.9% in June from 2.2% in May.
The cumulative CPI through June grew by 2.0%.
On a monthly basis, the fall was impacted by a 1.3% drop in food prices, Raiffeisenbank Austria Zagreb (RBA) said, adding that prices of vegetables fell most sharply. Prices in the catering and accommodation sector had the highest monthly rise of 1.4%, RBA said.
Year-on-year, food prices which comprise 28% of the consumer basket, had a positive impact on the slowdown of the annual inflation, rising just 0.6%, the banks said.
However, clothing and footwear prices appreciated by 5.5% on the year, while transport services became 6.5% more expensive.
The RBA analysts said they expect some pressure on CPI growth by the end of the year but average annual inflation should remain lower than last year. Average annual inflation in 2006 was 3.2%.
