In the first half of 2008 the average price of electricity without value added tax for the largest industry consumer band was 7.67 EUR/100 kWh.
In the first half of 2008 the average retail price of electricity for households for approximately half of all invoiced electricity was 10.66 EUR/100 kWh
Average retail prices for household electricity in the first half of the year 2008 ranged from 10.06 EUR/100 kWh (consumer band over 15,000 kWh annual consumption) to 18.58 EUR/100 kWh (consumer band up to 1,000 kWh annual consumption).
Shares of consumer bands regarding invoiced kWh in the first half of 2008 were as follows: 3 % for the consumer band up to 1,000 kWh annual consumption, 5 % for the consumer band over 15,000 kWh annual consumption, 11 % for the consumer band 1,000 - 2,500 kWh annual consumption, 33 % for the consumer band 2,500 - 5,000 kWh annual consumption and 48 % for the consumer band 5,000 - 15,000 kWh annual consumption.
The average retail price for the consumer band with the largest share in invoiced energy in the first half of 2008 was 10.66 EUR/100 kWh. This is 4 % increase compared to the second half of 2007.
In the first half of 2008 the average price of electricity without value added tax for the largest industry consumer band increased for 3 % compared to the second half of 2007
Average prices without value added tax for industry (price for the use of the network and excise tax are included) in the first half of the year 2008 ranged from 6.45 EUR/100 kWh (consumer bands between 20,000 and 70,000 MWh and 70,000 and 150,000 MWh annual consumption) to 14.12 EUR/100 kWh (consumer band up to 20 MWh annual consumption).
Shares of consumer bands regarding invoiced kWh in the first half of 2008 were as follows: 5 % for consumer band up to 20 MWh annual consumption, 14 % for each of the consumer bands 500 - 2,000 MWh and 20,000 - 70,000 MWh annual consumption, 17 % for the consumer band 70,000 - 150,000 MWh annual consumption, 20 % for the consumer band 20 - 500 MWh annual consumption and 30 % for the consumer band from 2,000 to 20,000 MWh annual consumption.
The average price without value added tax for the consumer band with the largest share in invoiced energy in the first half of 2008 was 7.67 EUR /100 kWh. This is 3 % increase compared to the second half of 2007. In the structure of the price the major part (80 %) represents price of energy, the share of network cost is 17 %, the rest (3 %) represents additions to the network cost and excise tax.
Average natural gas prices for the first half of the year 2008, provisional data
The average natural gas prices for the first half of the year 2008 are provisional. Final data are expected at the end of September 2008.
The average natural gas retail price for the household consumer band which represents 75 % of all gas supplied to households for the first half of the year 2008 was 15.61 EUR/GJ.
The average natural gas price without value added tax for the industry consumer band which represents half of all gas supplied to the industry for the first half of the year 2008 was 9.20 EUR/GJ.
Comparison of electricity and natural gas prices with prices in the rest of EU members
At the time of publishing only price data for the second half of 2007 were available. The comparison of Slovene prices with the weighted average price in EU 27 shows that the retail price for the household electricity was 70 % of EU average and the price without value added tax for industry was 95 % of EU average. Prices of natural gas are closer to EU average price. The price for household represents 98 % of EU average and the price for industry 103 % of EU average.
New methodology for electricity and natural gas price statistics
It is the second time since the change of the methodology that the price data are published. The prices compiled according to the old methodology are available on Prices of Energy Sources - Old Methodology
