In September 2008 2.4% higher industrial production, while stocks remained almost the same.

Production of industrial products and services in September 2.4% higher than in August

According to the seasonally adjusted data, industrial production in September 2008 compared to a month earlier increased by 2.4%. Considering working-day adjusted data, production in September 2008 compared to September 2007 grew by 1.5%.

By adjusting data to seasonal movement, in September compared to August production grew by 13.8% in mining and quarrying and by 2.4% in manufacturing, but fell by 1.2% in electricity, gas and water supply. According to working-day adjusted data, production in September 2008 compared to September 2007 increased in manufacturing (by 1.8%) and in electricity, gas and water supply (by 0.9%), but slightly decreased in mining and quarrying (by 1.0%).

Movement in the production of products in main industrial groupings was heterogeneous as well. Eliminating the influence of the season, in September this year compared to a month before production was up in intermediate goods industries (by 0.6%) and in consumer goods industries (by 6.5%), while in capital goods industries it fell by 6.1%.

Higher stocks of industrial products

Seasonally adjusted data show 0.1% higher stocks of industrial products in September 2008 compared to August 2008. Considering working-day adjusted data, stocks also increased compared to September 2007 (by 5.4%).
