Romanian MHS Motors, a dealer for BMW make cars launched in January 2008, said it sold 170 cars in the first eight months of 2008.

sales of the BMW X5 car model accounted for 40 pct of the company's total BMW sales for January to August 2008.

MHS Motors targets to sell 300 BMW cars for full-2008.

The dealer, part of local group Automobile Bavaria, has a showroom of 8,000 sq m in Bucharest in which it invested 4.0 mln euro ($5.66 mln).

Automobile Bavaria comprises four BMW dealers in the country which have a combined network of 13 showrooms.

The group's portfolio also includes the Mini make cars.

BMW GroupRomania, a unit of German carmaker Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) in the country, took over the imports, marketing, communication and post-sales services for the BMW and Mini makes from former importer Automobile Bavaria, on July 1, 2007. Automobile Bavaria remained a dealer and BMW GroupRomania's main partner in the country.
