3. Trade and services
3.1. Comparison with the previous month
In December 2007, the turnover volume of enterprises having as main activity retail (except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 50.4% as against the previous month mainly due to winter holidays of this month. High growthes were registered both for sale of food products (+52.6%) and for sale of non-food products (+49.1%).
In December 2007, the turnover volume of enterprises having as main activity wholesale and retail, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, retail of fuel for motor vehicles was by 2.6% higher than previous month level. Retail sale of fuel registered a growth by 15.0% and trade of motor vehicles a fall by 1.0%.
In December 2007, the activity of market services rendered to the population registered a growth by 27.4% as against the previous month.
For wholesale, in December 2007, turnover in current prices decreased by lei 500 million as compared to the previous month.
In December 2007, the services mainly rendered to the enterprises registered a turnover, in current prices, by lei 556 million higher than the previous month.
3.2. Comparison withthe same month of the previous year
In December 2007, the turnover volume of enterprises having as main activity retail (except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles) experienced a growth of 20.1% as against December 2006. Products sold on-line registered a growth by 23.7%.
In December 2007, the turnover volume of enterprises having as main activity wholesale and retail, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, retail of fuel for motor vehicles registered a growth of 10.1% as against December 2006.
As regards the retail (including trade of motor vehicles), the turnover volume index for small and medium-sized enterprises was 113.5% in December 2007 as against December 2006, while for big enterprises having 250 or more employees, this index reached 153.5%.
In December 2007,the activity of market services rendered to the population registered a turnover by 24.2% higher than in December 2006. Increases were registered for the activities of hotels and restaurants (+50.5%), activities of travel agencies and tur-operators (+33.1%) and for laundry, cleaning and dyeing textiles and fur (+2.3%).
In December 2007,wholesale turnover, in current prices, increased by 61.2%, respectively by lei 8224 million current prices, as against December 2006.
The services mainly rendered to the enterprises registered a turnover, in current prices, by 69.9% higher, lei 4802 million respectively.
3.3. Comparison with 2006
In 2007, as compared to the previous year, turnover volume of enterprises having as main activity retail trade (except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles) registered a growth of 17.8%. The on-line marketing of products, this system being chosen by the population with high income and little free time, registered a fall of 2.9%.
Turnover volume of enterprises having as main activity wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, retail trade of fuel for motor vehicles registered a growth of 24.3% in 2007, as compared to the previous year.
The market services rendered to the population registered a growth of 3.7% in 2007, as against the previous year.
