Finnish sports equipment maker Amer Sports Oyj said on September 5, 2008 that it had acquired the ski manufacturing assets of its Bulgarian subcontractor Pamporovo Ski AD for 5.0 mln euro ($7.2 mln).
However, the price depends on the working capital at the closing date. The assets of Pamporovo Ski are expected to be transferred to Amer Sports before the end of 2008. Pamporovo Ski's 380 employees will continue with the newly established Amer SportsBulgaria.
Pamporovo Ski produces alpine and Nordic skis. This deal is part of Amer Sports' strategy to further strengthen its position as a leading winter sports equipment manufacturer.
Amer Sports' sports equipment brands include Salomon, Wilson, Precor, Atomic, Suunto, Mavic and Arc'teryx.
