September 23 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's trade deficit decreased by 18.2% year-on-year to 228.9 million euro ($267 million) in August, as exports increased while imports declined, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Exports rose by 7.6% on the year to 34.3 million euro in the month under review, whereas imports fell by an annual 15.6% to 263.3 million euro, the Kosovo Agency of Statistics said in a monthly economic report.
Kosovo's main export destinations in August were Albania, Germany and Switzerland. Base metals, various manufactured articles, plastic products and food, beverages and tobacco were Kosovo's main export items.
Food, beverages and tobacco, machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment and base metals made up the bulk of Kosovo's imports in August. Most of the imports originated in Germany, Turkey and China.
