August 26 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's gross power production rose to 1,744.7 GWh in the second quarter of the year from 1,525.5 GWh in the like period a year ago, the national statistics office said on Thursday.
Thermal power plants produced 1,657.8 GWh of electricity, while hydro power plants generated 86.9 GWh, the office said in a statement.
The tiny country imported 24.9 GWh in the April-June period, down from 98.8 GWh in the like period of 2015, whereas its exports soared to 492.3 GWh from 209.7 GWh.
Kosovo's power consumption in the review period declined 11.7% on the year to 822.7 GWh, as the biggest share of final consumers, or 60.6%, were households.
Coal output rose in the second quarter - to 2.01 million tones from 1.98 million tones a year ago.
