November 22 (SeeNews) - Kosovo operators in the mobile, fixed-line and internet segments generated 31.7 million euro ($33.7 million) in total revenues in the third quarter of the year, down 16.6% on the year but 13.4% higher on a quarterly basis, the country's Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications said.
Mobile operator Vala, owned by state-owned Post and Telecom of Kosovo (PTK), accounted for 56.8% of the total revenue in the sector. Last quarter, though, it generated 58.9% of the total, the regulator said in a report last week.
IPKO, a unit of Telekom Slovenije, increased its share of the total revenue to 37.9% of the total in the third quarter from 35.8% in the second quarter of the year.
The total number of mobile subscribers in Kosovo grew to 1.88 million in the third quarter from 1.76 million a quarter earlier.
Vala's market share in terms of mobile subscribers shrank to 54.2% from 57.4% in the previous quarter, whereas IPKO raised the share of its subscribers to 37.4% from 33.6%.
Two other operators operating on Kosovo's mobile services market - Z Mobile and D3 Mobile - held a market share of 8.4% and 0.1%, respectively.
