September 25 (SeeNews) - Croatian retailer Konzum Plus continued to hold the largest share on the local market in 2019, of 20-30%, the country's competition authority AZTN said.
Konzum Plus operated 615 retail outlets in 2019, down by eight compared to a year earlier, AZTN said in a statement on Thursday. In 2018 its market share stood at 30-40%.
The local units of two members of Germany’s Schwarz Group - Lidl and Kaufland - too had a combined market share of 20-30%.
Lidl's market share rose by 1.0 percentage point compared to 2018 and remained in the 10-20% range, according to the statement.
Kaufland ranked fourth, behind local retailer Plodine, as both companies had a market share in the 5-10% range last year.
SPAR Hrvatska, part of Austrian food retail group SPAR, and local retailer Tommy ranked fifth and sixth, also with a market share of 5-10%.
The other retailers on the top ten list - Studenac, KTC, NTL and Mlin i Pekare - held market shares of less than 5% each.
The combined market share of Croatia's top ten retailers was over 80% in 2019, slightly down compared to 2018, while the remaining 41 active retailers held less than 20% of the market.
AZTN said that the combined revenue of all active retailers in Croatia in 2019 was up by a nominal 2.25 billion kuna ($347 million/298 million euro), or 6%, compared to 2018.
