September 23 (SeeNews) - The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) said it has awarded a grant to Turkey's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in support of a pilot project to improve roadway congestion and optimise public transportation in the city.
The grant will support the installation of an artificial intelligence software analytics platform to evaluate Istanbul’s road traffic, optimise public transportation, manage traffic incidents and adapt to changing patterns, USTDA said in a statement on Tuesday.
USTDA did not disclose the size of the grant but Turkey's Hurriyet Daily News reported that the funding amounts to $5 million (4.3 million euro).
The project will use a data analytics tool that will be provided by software company SAS, which is based in North Carolina, U.S., according to the statement.
USTDA links U.S. businesses to export opportunities by funding project preparation and partnership building activities that develop sustainable infrastructure and foster economic growth in partner countries.
