December 3 (SeeNews) - Hrvatski Telekom (HT) [ZSE:HT] said on Thursday its 5G network is now available in 14 Croatian cities, covering one million citizens.
At the end of October, HT became the first operator in Croatia to launch commercial 5G services, with the network initially launched in six cities, including the capital Zagreb, the costal cities of Rijeka and Split, the eastern city of Osijek, and the towns of Samobor and Sveta Nedelja located in the Zagreb county.
With the start of December, HT's 5G services are now available in eight more cities, all in northern Croatia, including Djakovo, Nasice, Pozega, Varazdin, Vinkovci, Virovitica, Vukovar and Zupanja, the company said in a statement.
"We want to make the 5G network available in all parts of Croatia. That is why we have made a new 5G step forward in seven Slavonian cities and Varazdin," HT's management board member and CTIO, Boris Drilo, said in the statement.
"5G is a new innovation platform that will enable full digitalization in the field of production, logistics, and agriculture and enable further development of digital services for public administration and health," Drilo added.
HT's 5G network is based on Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology, whose application enables the current use of existing frequencies for 5G. In addition, the DSS technology allows for the fast implementation of the 5G network and reduces the need for new base stations and locations on specific 5G frequencies.
HT's shares traded flat at 183.50 kuna ($30/24 euro) by 13:39 CET on Thursday on the Zagreb bourse.
