July 26 (SeeNews) - Albania attracted 604,381 foreign tourists in June, compared with 179,594 in the same month last year, the country's statistical office said.
Foreign tourist arrivals reached 1.69 million in the first half of 2021, up from 781,894 in the same period a year earlier, the statistical office said in a statement last week.
In June alone, the number of domestic tourists rose to 335,491 from 184,980 in June 2020. Overall, the total number of domestic and foreign tourists came in at 939,872 in the month under review, compared with 364,574 in the same month in 2020.
In June, Albania attracted 334,908 visitors from Kosovo, 68,522 from North Macedonia and 32,861 from Montenegro.
Albania confirmed its first two coronavirus cases in early March, 2020. Later that month, the country closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights in an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
