November 23 (SeeNews) - The European Union (EU) is providing 26.5 million euro ($31.5 million) to Kosovo to help the country deal with the Covid-19 crisis, the office of Kosovo's prime minister said.
The first tranche of 20.5 million euro is expected to be disbursed by the end of the year, the prime minister's office said in a statement on Friday.
The agreement for the financial support was signed by Kosovo's prime minister Avdullah Hoti and EU special representative for Kosovo Tomas Szunyog.
“We are pleased that our teams have worked together during this time to ensure that Kosovo meets some specific requirements to receive this direct budget support, which is much needed at the end of the year to help specific groups of our citizens, including businesses and to fill the reduced budget due to the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Hoti said in the statement.
