The solar plant featuring 792 PV panels mounted at the site of Wetterbest's plant in Baicoi will meet around 33% of the plant's annual energy needs and will help reduce CO2 emissions by 77 tonnes per year.
"Through this project, we want to achieve the sustainability objectives of our group and cut carbon dioxide emissions at the factory. This is just the first step in reducing the company's carbon footprint," Wetterbest general manager Marian Pirvu said.
Since March, Wetterbest is part of Ireland-based Kingspan Group. Currently, the company has two production units, located respectively in Baicoi, Prahova county and Podari, Dolj county, in which the company is manufacturing 10 million sq m of metallic roofing units per year.
