January 26 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a 3 million euro ($3.2 million) loan to the Macedonian unit of Slovenian lender NLB for the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by women, NLB Banka Skopje has said.
NLB Banka and EBRD signed the loan contract on Wednesday, the Skopje-based said in a filing to the Macedonian Stock Exchange.
The loan is part of EBRD's Women in Business programme in the Western Balkans which was launched at the beginning of 2015.
Women in Business is a comprehensive programme designed to promote women’s entrepreneurship by helping women-led businesses to access finance and know-how. Under the programme, the EBRD is extending up to 20 million euro for on-lending to women-led SMEs in the Western Balkans.
