October 24 (SeeNews) - Ethnic Albanians in Macedonia are more inclined to vote for the Democratic Union of Integration (DUI) in the early elections in December, according to the results of a recent survey conducted by the Institute for Policy Research and Good Governance.
Some 13% of the 1,100 Albanians interviewed by phone said that in the snap vote scheduled for December 11 they would back DUI, the ethnic Albanian party that was partner of conservative VMRO-DPMNE in the previous government coalition, the results of the survey showed on Sunday.
Nationalist BESA ('Oath') movement followed with around 10% support among the respondents.
The largest Albanian opposition party, the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA), remained well behind DUI and BESA with 6% support.
The Movement for Reforms - Democratic Party of Albanians, which spun off from DPA, would gain about 5% support from the Albanians in Macedonia in the forthcoming election.
Macedonia's biggest opposition party, socialist SDSM, is supported by 4% of the respondents.
More than half of those interviewed, some 55%, declared they would not vote or were undecided.
The margin of error in the survey was 3%.
According to the 2002 census Albanians make up 25.2% of Macedonia's population of about two million.
The early elections are part of an EU-brokered deal, the so called Przino agreement, which aims to resolve a protracted political crisis in Macedonia. The vote has been postponed twice since the leaders of the main political parties in Macedonia signed the agreement in June 2015.
