September 24 (SeeNews) - The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) plans to join the project for the construction of a motorway linking Serbia's Nis to Kosovo's Pristina in the next three months, the director of the Belgrade office of DFC, John Jovanovic, said.
"For us it is most important to find an opportunity to identify a few projects in the next three months. I believe that the first project will be the Nis-Pristina motorway, the so-called Peace Highway," Jovanovic said in a video file posted on the website of public broadcaster RTS on Wednesday.
DFC plans to provide financial support for the project from its own funds, Jovanovic added.
Jovanovic was introduced as director of the newly-opened office of DFC in Belgrade on September 22 during a visit of a U.S. government delegation led by the special envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell.
Earlier this month, DFC and U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM) signed letters of interest with Serbia and Kosovo to help finance the construction of a motorway linking Nis to Pristina. The letters of interest are non-binding and will be followed by standard due diligence conducted by both agencies before financing is formally committed, DFC said.
