July 2 (SeeNews) - Czech-based JTH Holding opened on Thursday a 105 million euro ($124.2 million) hotel, Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort and Spa, in Rijeka, the Croatian government said.
“It is one of the biggest investments in the Croatian tourism sector,“ prime minister Andrej Plenkovic, who attended the opening ceremony, said in a statement on the government website.
The hotel, Hilton's fifth on the Croatian Adriatic coast, offers 132 rooms and 62 villas and suits. It is located between the towns of Rijeka and Opatija, on Croatia's northern Adriatic coast.
The hotel created 180 jobs and will additionally employ seasonal workers.
“Croatia's tourism is in a phase of recovery and since the beginning of the year, there were 2.7 million tourist arrivals," Plenkovic also said.
Tourism contributes some 20% of Croatia's GDP. In 2019, the country was visited by a record-high 20 million tourists.
