January 12 (SeeNews) - The combined gross written premiums of Croatian insurers totalled 8.8 billion kuna ($1.24 billion/1.17 million euro) at the end of December, up 0.42% on the year, official figures show.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance increased 0.91% to 5.8 billion kuna in 2016, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 2.9 billion kuna, 0.55% lower compared with a year earlier, according to figures published on the website of the Croatian Insurance Bureau.
Twenty-three insurance companies operated in Croatia in 2016, following the merger of Sunce osiguranje with Agram Life at the end of 2015.
The 24 insurers that operated in Croatia in 2015 posted combined gross written premiums of 8.72 billion kuna for that year, up 1.91% compared to 2014.
