LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 22 (SeeNews) – SHS Aviation, a Slovenian-registered company controlled by Chinese capital, has purchased the operator of Slovenia’s Maribor airport for 7 million euro ($7.3 million), local media reported.
Trade union-controlled savings bank Delavska hranilnica, the sole owner of the airport operator, received the funds from SHS Aviation on Wednesday, broadcaster RTVSLO reported.

The purchase price is 10 million euro but the remaining 3 million euro, which is being held in a neutral account, will be deposited when and if the airport gets a long-term lease from the government, RTVSLO explained.
The additional 3 million euro would be invested into the development and operations of the airport.
According to RTVSLO, the airport has been in financial trouble for some time and fresh capital is more than welcome.
Delavska hranilnica purchased a 57% stake in Maribor airport in 2014 and increased its share to 100% in 2015.
