September 19 (SeeNews) - Canada-based telecommunication services company OneContact has opened a call centre in Macedonia's capital Skopje, which will provide at least 200 new jobs in the future, Macedonia's governing party has said.
The company starts with 25 employees, VMRO-DPMNE said in a statement published on its website on Sunday. OneContact plans to increase that number to 50 at a later stage, before reaching its final goal of employing 200 in the call centre.
OneContact's new call centre will provide telecommunication and online data processing services such as technical support, quality assurance of software products as well as development of mobile applications.
Macedonia has one of the highest unemployment rates in the region of southeastern Europe. According to the country's statistics office, the jobless rate edged down to 24% for the second quarter, from 24.5% for the first quarter.
