September 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian food technology company Cupffee has opened a factory for the production of edible biodegradable cups, the economy ministry said.
The factory spreads on 3,600 sq m in Trakia Economic Zone in the city of Plovdiv and has the world's first automated production line for biodegradable cups, the economy ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The company already employs 30 people in the new facility that operates three machines for production of biodegradable cups, Cupffee CEO Miroslav Zapryanov said.
Currently, the plant's production capacity is 2.5 million edible cups per month, Zapryanov said, adding that the company aims to purchase three more machines in order to boost its monthly production capacity to 10 million cups.
Plovdiv-based Cupffee, established in 2014, is specialised in the production of biodegradable coffee cups that can sustain hot beverages for more than 12 hours as a sustainable alternative to plastic and paper cups, according to information published on the company's LinkedIn profile.
