October 4 (SeeNews) - Public gas supplier Bulgargaz has kicked off a process of applying for licences as a gas trader in Greece and Slovakia and is planning to do the same in Romania soon, local media reported on Tuesday.
The procedure will allow Bulgargaz to sell excess quantities on the Greek market in the event of network capacity interruptions due to infrastructure repairs or emergencies, local news outlet Mediapool quoted the company's chief executive Denitsa Zlateva as saying.
The timelines for obtaining the licences vary in the different countries, with the company awaiting decision in Slovakia for six months now, according to the report.
Clearance in Romania is likely to be granted faster, because of the company's existing gas trading licence in Bulgaria.
Bulgargaz's top priority is to have registrations on exchanges in neighbouring countries so that it can have flexibility of operation, Mediapool also quoted Zlateva as saying.
