September 26 (SeeNews) - Combined passenger traffic at the two international airports of Romania's capital Bucharest rose 16.5% year-on-year to 7,141,740 passengers for the first eight months of 2016, the airports' operator said on Monday.
Take-offs and landings at the two airports rose 10.3% on the year to 79,660 for the eight months through August 2016, the Bucharest Airports National Company, CNAB, said in a statement.
The increase in passenger numbers for the January-August period gives grounds for expectations for record-high passenger traffic of 10 million for the full year 2016, CNAB added.
CNAB operates Bucharest's main airport, Henri Coanda, and a smaller one, Aurel Vlaicu.
A total of 37 airlines operated from the Henri Coanda airport, which served 7,138,426 passengers and registered 71,236 departures and arrivals in the eight months through August 2016.
The combined passenger traffic at the two airports rose 11.6% to a record high of 9,287,555 last year.
