BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 22 (SeeNews) – Consumer prices in Bosnia's Serb Republic fell 1% on the year in July, after dropping 1.6% in June, the entity's statistics office said on Monday.
Month-on-month, the Serb Republic's consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.3% in July after edging down 0.2% in June, the office said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, transport charges grew 0.5%, recreation and culture edged up 0.4%, the cost of furniture increased 0.6%, while health costs and the price of restaurants and hotels increased by 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively. Prices of alcoholic beverages, communication and education remained unchanged.
At the same time, the price of clothing and footwear fell 3.7%, that of food and non-alcoholic beverages declined 0.5%, and that of other goods and service dropped 0.7%. The cost of housing edged down 0.2%.
In 2015, the Serb Republic reported an average annual deflation of 1.4%, following a deflation of 1.2% a year earlier.
The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
