January 16 (SeeNews) - In 2016, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded an average annual deflation of 1.1%, expanding from 0.7% a year earlier, the entity's statistics office said on Monday.
The most significant year-on-year drop in 2016, of 7.0%, was seen in the prices of clothing and footwear, while the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages fell 1.5%, the office said in a statement published on its website.
Prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels edged down 0.3%, while transport depreciated 4.4%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco was 7.8% more expensive.
In December alone, consumer prices in the Federation dropped 0.3% on the year after falling 0.4% in November.
On a monthly basis, the Federation's consumer price index (CPI) remained unchanged in December after increasing 0.2% a month earlier.
The Federation is one of the two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
