SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), January 13 (SeeNews) – Bosnian state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] said on Friday it produced 7,245 GWh of electricity in 2016, 5.06% more than a year earlier and 1.24% above plan.
The utility's thermal power plant in Kakanj generated 2,094 GWh of electricity in 2016, up 8.66% on the year, while its other plant in Tuzla exceeded its 2015 results by 5.74% and produced 3,686.4 GWh, EPBiH said in a statement.
The utility's hydro power complex Hidroelektrane na Neretvi met the yearly plan and produced 1,395 GWh through December despite unfavorable conditions.
In 2016, significant progress was made by the company's mines, which increased coal production by 9.8% to 4.97 million t.
The company's Kakanj TPP has seven units with total installed capacity of 450 megawatts and produces an average of 2,300 gigawatt hours a year. It is the smaller one of Elektroprivreda BiH’s two thermal power plants. The bigger one is Tuzla, whose six blocks produce an average of 3,100 gigawatt hours yearly. It has a total installed capacity of 715 megawatts.
Elektroprivreda BiH operates in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the two parts of postwar Bosnia. The other is the Serb Republic.
