September 28 (SeeNews) - Bosnia has once again postponed a transition to digital broadcasting after television network RTRS asked for the test phase to be delayed until the first half of October from its intended commencement on Thursday, the country's communication ministry said.
Public TV stations RTRS, BHT and FTV were meant to begin testing the digital signal on Thursday on the territory of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, however plans were postponed at the last minute at the request of RTRS, the communication ministry said in a statement.
The ministry noted that, despite the postponement, the technical and organisational conditions for the release of the test signal and the completion of the first phase of digitisation have been met.
According to the Geneva agreement signed in 2006 by European emitters, June 17, 2015 was the last deadline for the switchover from analogue to digital broadcasting.
Last year, media reported that since Bosnian broadcasters have missed the deadline, their programmes will be halted at the request of neighbouring administrations. The delay in the switch to digital broadcasting was attributed to political disagreements.
