May 24 (SeeNews) - German engineering and electronics company Bosch said on Tuesday its consolidated sales in Romania rose 10% year-on-year in 2021 to 2.4 billion lei ($521.5 million/485.5 million euro), and aims hire 400 this year.
Total net sales, including those from unconsolidated companies and internal deliveries to affiliates, totalled 8.2 billion lei in 2021, rising by annual 19%, Bosch Romania said in a press release.
This year, the company plans to hire 400, mainly in its software and hardware engineering departments.
"In 2021, the Bosch Group in Romania achieved a very good performance, with a double-digit increase in all business sectors, despite the difficult environment caused by the coronavirus pandemic, semiconductor supply bottlenecks and by higher costs of raw materials," Bosch Romania general manager Mihai Boldijar said.
The growth in sales over 2021 was primarily driven by the extension of our long-term operations and investments in production, Boldijar added.
The group invested a total of approximately 410 million lei in 2021 in its Romanian operations, mainly in its production units for the mobility solutions division in Cluj and Blaj.
Last year, the company opened a third production unit in Cluj, and invested over 5 million euro to install solar panels with an annual capacity of 8,252 MWh at its Cluj facility. It has also invested 200,000 euro ($214,000) to equip its Blaj site with solar panels.
The Bosch Group has been active on the Romanian market for 28 years and currently employs around 8,800 across seven entities. These are its Bucharest headquarters, BSH Electrocasnice in Bucharest, Rexroth sales division in Blaj, its two mobility solutions manufacturing plants in Blaj and Cluj, its engineering centre in Cluj and Bosch Service Solutions in Timisoara.
In June, Bosch Romania announced that it has started the construction of a 21 million euro office building in Cluj, which is expected to be completed in 2023.
