November 16 (SeeNews) - Alitalia will suspend flights from Rome to Macedonia's capital Skopje due to lower-than-expected demand, according to media reports.
The last flight on the route will be operated on November 30, Ex-Yu Aviation News reported last week.
The decision was taken two and a half years after the launching of the flight on the route in February 2014.
Prior to November 15, the flight was operated seven times a week, whereas currently the frequence is reduced to three times per week, Ex-Yu Aviation News said.
In the past, Alitalia maintained flights between Milan and Macedonia's capital, but they were terminated in 2008 also due to weak profitability, Ex-Yu Avation News recalled.
Alitalia is the third carrier to suspend flights to Skopje within the current winter season, the other two being Swiss International Air Lines and Czech Airlines.
More than 78,000 Macedonian citizens are living in Rome, according to Ex-Yu Aviation News.
