January 20 (SeeNews) - Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba is considering opening a distribution centre in Croatia's coastal town of Zadar to service orders from Europe, local media reported quoting lobbyists.
The company's management recently decided to continue activities towards setting up a distribution centre in Zadar's business zone Crno, news portal Zadarsk List reported earlier this week quoting Chinese lobbyists and the president of the Euro-Asian Business Association, David Lekaj.
"The Chinese are satisfied with business conditions in Croatia. They want to make Zadar the hotspot for their e-commerce operations," Lekaj said.
Last week the Bulgarian government said Alibaba Group plans to invest in a logistics centre in Bulgaria.
Alibaba also plans to offer Bulgarian food and commodities through its online platform, the government said in a press release following a meeting of prime minister Boyko Borissov and deputy prime minister Tomislav Donchev with representatives of Chinese companies, including Alibaba.
Alibaba Group’s businesses includes core commerce, cloud computing, digital media and entertainment, innovation initiatives and others. In 2014, the company closed the world’s biggest IPO, raising $25 billion (23.45 billion euro) on the New York Stock Exchange.
