December 31 (SeeNews) - Albania's prime minister Edi Rama said the government has reached an agreement in principle with Pfizer for the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the U.S. pharmaceutical company, local media reported.
COVID-19 immunisation with Pfizer's vaccine is expected to start in January, Tirana Times quoted Rama as saying on Wednesday.
Pfizer developed the vaccine together with German biotechnology company BioNTech.
The European Commission (EC) said on Monday it has approved an aid package in the amount of 70 million euro ($86 million) that will enable the Western Balkans countries to get early access to Covid-19 vaccines procured by EU member states.
