June 21 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Air Serbia has announced the completion of a project to increase of the seating capacity of its ten narrow-body Airbus aircraft.
Air Serbia has installed 1,500 award-winning Recaro BL3520 seats over the last four weeks, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
In May, Air Serbia revealed plans to increase the seating capacity of its Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft by 12% to strengthen its European network. The Recaro BL3520 seats lifted the capacity of the A319 aircraft to 144 seats from 128 and of the A320 planes to 174 from 155.
"Completing the retrofit on schedule means that our aircraft are ready for the summer peak and we can offer more seating capacity to cater to the travel demand," AirSerbia CEO Dane Kondic said in the statement.
Air Serbia said in May it decided to suspend its Belgrade-Abu Dhabi flight in the autumn and focus on shorter routes in Europe after an extensive review of the company's five-year business plan.
