April 12 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian do-it-yourself (DIY) retailer Praktiker said it opened its 17th hypermarket in the country, in the capital Sofia's Krasno Selo district.
Spanning 11,500 square metres, the new store is the retailer's third location in Sofia and employs 130 sales consultants, Praktiker said in a statement on Thursday. The site has a parking lot with over 200 spots and an electric vehicle charging station.
Additionally, Praktiker will install some 830 rooftop solar photovoltaic panels at the hypermarket, which will cover 35% of its energy needs. The company has installed 7,000 rooftop solar panels across its stores in the country over the past four years.
The Praktiker site is the first of over 25 planned stores in the Holiday Park Krasno Selo complex, currently under construction. The complex, which will have a commercial area of over 31,000 square metres and create more than 500 new jobs, is set to open next spring.
Praktiker is part of local retail group Videolux Holding.
